What to know about Stanley Daniels, whom the Broncos claimed off waivers from the Packers on Friday afternoon:
- He started three years at the University of Washington;
- The next regular-season game in which he plays will be his first;
- He’s been on the practice squads of the Jets and Packers, and was also in camp with the Rams three years ago;
- He was a standout defensive lineman at Marian Catholic High School in San Diego before moving full-time to offense at UW;
- His uncle is Ray May, a Broncos linebacker from 1973-75. May is an underrated figure in team history; acquired from Baltimore in a 1973 trade for third- and eighth-round choices (Robert Pratt and Paul Miles, respectively), he helped provide leadership to the unit that season and helped the team to its first winning season that year (7-5-2). The 1974 additions of Tom Jackson and Randy Gradishar would reduce May’s role by 1975.

Oh my goodness! You are doing Such a Great job Anderw! This site rocks, and has Great info, keep up the great stuff. One Q, what’s “Max” for?
Thanks for the compliments, Jon. The “Max” … well, I wanted something short and snappy, and it was available, as were some similar URLs. If you type in “MaxBroncos.com,” you go to our archive of Broncos stories.
